Brightec has its final sleigh for 2022

The Brightec team wearing Christmas Jumpers next to the tree

At the end of a busy year, we’ve taken a moment to pause and reflect on all this year has been.

Perhaps not accurately reflected by your advent calendar, but our days before Christmas are numbered.

The weather outside is frightful, but our studio is so delightful. It’s snow time for jokes and we didn’t fir-get that at the end of last year we mentioned we’d started to actively look at how to create a new studio space. After lots of hard work, this space was finally ready for our team to move in at the start of July.

It has been super special to bring the team back together, share breakfast on a Monday, eat birthday cakes together and try not to drop pizza on our new carpets! We’ve settled into our new rhythm of hybrid working; Andy found a new excuse to write another blog about productive meetings and we learnt a lot about how our team wants to work, and what our studio needed to create that ideal space.

Some of you have already enjoyed a beer and BBQ with us at our new home by the river, and we look forward to many more afternoons like that. Of course, we also got to at last celebrate Brightec turning 10 (+2) this year!

Christmas Past

In the last five years, our team has doubled in size. This year we’ve welcomed two new (and brilliant) Graduate Developers; Seun and Mo. Having now been with us for 10 months, Seun has already been promoted to Developer. We are excited to be training Mo in his first few months, and are also really excited to be welcoming a Junior Product Manager from January. We’re also looking to hire a new designer to have a helvetica good time working with us.

With team expansion like this it would be a mistake to think our values didn’t need to grow with us. Josh has written a great blog about how we’ve moved to our next iteration of the ‘Brightec DNA’.

Confidently Humble remains a core part of the Brightec personality and we’ve had a few award acknowledgements this year which have confirmed our goal to be quietly confident we are leaders in our field. As a team fuelled by continuous improvement and vast quantities of coffee, pastries and dad jokes, we were honoured to be named UK Dev Awards’ Employer of the Year (Small). At the end of November, our designer Elle attended the DevelopHER awards in Norwich, where she received the award for User Experience. In a male dominated industry, we’re super proud of the women in our team who each champion technology and inspire others in their own ways.

Yet to Come

We have a simple statement that encapsulates our company purpose “To be a company that our customers love working with, and our employees love working for”.

We’re looking forward to delivering long term strategic roadmaps in partnership with our clients next year. We know that together we will reach a variety of business goals alongside user research to continue the success of 2022.

All our client projects (without exception) have seen exceptional growth through the last 12 months. They have seen increased revenue, conversion, interaction and engagement. Their projects are thriving post-covid and are looking into 2023 to grow their offering and expand their services.

Christmas Present

It is for many, the most wonderful time of the year; perhaps there’ll be parties for hosting, Marshmallows for toasting and carolling out in the snow. Hearts will be glowing when loved ones are near, and we want our team to be able to enjoy every moment so we’re closing the studio from Friday 16th December until Tuesday 3rd January. There is after all, no present like presence.

We hope you all have a tree-mendous Christmas break.
